On Behalf of Rohingya people in Myanmar and elsewhere around the world, Dr. Uddin expressed his deepest gratitude to the Secretary General in written statements for his relentless efforts for finding a solution to Rohingya human rights and political rights in Burma. Dr. Uddin expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General as:
“We, the Rohingya people, are extremely fortunate to have the deep sympathy and support from you with tremendous dedication during a significant part of your career. Your strong leadership has laid the foundation for our community to come together to reclaim our rights in our homeland. Forming the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) under your patronage in 2011, was a land mark event in the history of Rohingya. Alhamdu Lillah, with the support of OIC and its member states, ARU is now fully institutionalized with a charter, a council, a director general, several departments in the secretariat, and a board of advisors. The Global Rohingya Center, an arm of ARU, is also fully functional with its media and information system in various parts of the world. We, the Rohingya people, are truly touched deep down in our heart when you made a historic trip to Arakan, and meeting the Rohingya victims. Insha Allah, we hope that your goodwill visit to Myanmar is a harbinger of return of our rights through dialogue for reconciliation and peaceful co-existence in Arakan. While we are highly emotional to see the end of your tenure at OIC shortly, we are very hopeful that you will continue to champion for our cause. In our community worldwide, you will be remembered as a great friend of Rohingya who has relentlessly fought for our cause and paved the way to realize our dream of living in peace with dignity in our homeland.”
In the event, while greeted by the new Secretary General Dr. Uddin also expressed his gratitude as:
“On behalf of Rohingya people in Myanmar and around the world, I wish to express my heart felt congratulations to you as the new Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. We also wish to express our deepest gratitude to OIC for its relentless efforts to find a solution to the Rohingya human rights and political issues in Arakan State, Myanmar. The OIC has truly brought the issue to a forefront in the international arena from the ground in Arakan to the United Nations General Assembly. We, the Rohingya people, are extremely fortunate to have you at the leadership of the OIC in the Muslim Ummah, and Insha Allah we are looking up to Your Excellency in advancing the cause of Muslim Ummah and seeking a solution for the Rohingya people and other Muslim minorities who are the victims of religious intolerance and ethnic cleansing. With the continuous engagement of OIC with the Myanmar Government and keeping the profile high at the international arena, Insha Allah we hope that we can realize our dream of living in peace with dignity in our homeland. We wish you all the success at your good office at OIC in years to come Insha Allah, in addressing issues faced by Muslim communities around the world.
