Security forces harass Rohingyas going to market town in Maungdaw North
Burma Times Correspondent: March 28, 2015
Police snatched 300,000 kyats from a Rohingya man going to Sidha para bazar, Maungdaw North on Monday, according to our local correspondent.
Police took the shopping money of Syed Hossain (30), s/o Kamal as he went to the market.
At the same time, BGP stopped another man going to the market. When BGP checked Solim (26), s/o Ruskom, all they found was a Burmese SIM card. They then swapped the Burmese SIM with a Bangladesh SIM. He was then assaulted until he agreed to pay 200,000 kyats.
Locals from different neighbourhoods say that going to Sidha para Bazar is becoming increasingly difficult because of the security forces.
