Security forces sexually abused women, looted valuables and arrested Rohingyas during a night raid on Dhong Hali in Maungdaw South.
At late night on Wednesday, around forty police and BGP personal entered the village and broke into Rohingya houses. They started sexually abusing Rohingya women and snatched away cash and all valuable items they could find.
When one of the Rohingyas protested the incident, he was brutally beaten up. The victims has been identified as Najimul Haque. He received multiple injuries after being kicked all over the body including the head.
Some of the Rohingyas in the village were not given tokens during the withdrawal of white cards. They were arrested and taken to base.
Incidentally when the white cards (id card for foreign residents) were withdrawn in March, some of the Rohingyas were not given receipts in exchange thereby depriving them of all legal documents proving their residence in Arakan. There are fears that these Rohingyas would be harassed and pushed over the nearby Bangladesh border on allegations of being recent migrants.
