Raids continue in Maungdaw town
Burma Times Correspondent: October 12, 2015
Security forces carried out another raid on a Rohingya neighbourhood in Maungdaw town.
In the early hours of the Sunday, dozens of police and BGP personal entered Ukil para and conducted a house by house search in the locality.
For the last few days, Rohingya neighbourhoods are searched on an almost daily basis for sharp instruments. Most Rohingyas are dependent on agricultural and lumberjack related activities and have some kind of tools. The security forces are seizing these tools and warning the owners to refrain from ‘rioting’ against the Rakhines.
Security forces also seemed to be very concerned about Bangladesh mobile phones claiming they were being used by Bangladesh based terrorists to plan trouble in the coming days in Maungdaw town.
During the raid, some of the Rohingyas were verbally abused and slapped.
