Mass Casualties Feared as Burmese Military Offensive Continue

Maungdaw — Mass civilian casualties are feared as the Burmese military offensive continues on the Rohingya villages in northern Maungdaw.

The increase of civilian casualties due to the lack of medical treatments and food supplies is creating panic and humanitarians chaos in the region.

Yesterday, more than 3,000 people have been displaced in five Rohingya villages – Yekai Chaung Kwasone (Bor Gozi Bil), Dar Gyi Zar (Chudo Gozi Bil), Myau Taung (Saali Ferang), Pwint Phyu Chaung (Zammoinna) and Thu Oo Hla (Kulaar Bil) — as their homes were burnt down; and their food stores and food supply chains were destroyed by the brutal army. Around 100 civilians were wounded and two dozens were killed due to the ground attacks and the air strikes.

On this is the second day of the second round of the military’s offensive operations against the civilians post October 9, the military continue to torch Kyaa Gaung Taung (Rabailla) and Yekai Chaung Kwasone villages, assault civilians and arrest more and more people.

Following are the recent updates.

  1. 13/11/16 1 PM: “My child was thrown into the blazing fire alive by the Burmese army” said a crying mother while fleeing from Kya Gaung Taung (Rabailla) village as their homes have been burnt down.

  2. 13/11/16 2 PM: Burmese troops are torching Rohingya homes at ‘Dar Gyi Zar (Chudo Gozi Bil) and Kyein Chaung (Boli Bazaar)’ driving all the villagers out of their homes en masse.

  3. 13/11//16 2:30 PM: Rohingya homes are being burnt down by Burmese army by using Fire Luanchers at Oo Shye Kya (Oo Shye Kya) villages. Hundreds of children are starving due to lack of food supplies.
    Sounds of heavy weaponries are being heard all over northern Maungdaw.

  4. 13/11/16 3 PM: Since 10 AM today, the Burmese military gunboats have started brush-fires at theRohingya civilians fleeing the burning Dar Gyi Zar (Shudo Gozi Bil) village by coming inward from the Naff river along a creek.
    An 8-year son of Mr. Yunus was killed and 2 other civilians were wounded due to the firing by the gun-boats at Thayet Oak (Maangala) village.

  5. 13/11/16 3 PM: Two entire families and a woman, total 8 civilians, were killed by the launchers fired by the Burmese army at Dar Gyi Zar (Shudo Gozi Bil) village. They are Mv Shah Alam (son of) Sayed Ahmed his wife and son; Abdu Shukkor (son of) Abul Hussein and his 3 family members; and Shafibu (wife of) Jamal.

  6. 13/11/16 4 PM: Many Burmese attack helicopters are flying over Kyein Chaung (Boli Bazaar) village. They can strike the village anytime.

  7. 13/11/16 3 PM: The southern part of Kya Gaung Taung (Rabailla) and almost whole of Yekay Chaung Kwasone (Bor Gozi Bil) have been burnt to ashes. Dar Gyi Zar (Shudo Gozi Bil) village is till burning.
    16 people at Pwint Phyu Chaung (Zammoinna), 2 at Yekay Chaung Kwasone and 1 at Kya Gaung Taung, a total of 19 civilians, were killed by Burmese army using launchers today.

  8. 13/11/16 6 PM: 4 truck loads of Burmese troops arrived at Kyein Chaung and terrorized the localRohingya civilians. So, everyone including small children in the village fled and are now facing chaotic situations in open fields. Heart-wrenching!
